One of the more common question I get from my patients is whether their drooping eyelids are a medical condition or if it’s considered a cosmetic issue. To a large extent, Ptosis (the medical term for drooping of the upper eyelid) is a medical condition.

Ptosis can happen to people of any age, and the serverity varies. Some of my patients do it because it's affecting their daily activities, but there are also patients whose motivations were more aesthetic-driven. There're also children who are born with congenital upper eyelid ptosis and require surgical correction at a young age.

Hence, I've decided to write this post to help you understand the causes of ptosis, how to treat it, and the factors that affects the cost of a ptosis surgery.

How is liposuction performed in Singapore, and must it be under general anaesthesia?

There's an abundance of clinics in Singapore offering threadlifts. However, very little is known about the actual differences in threadlift materials used, or techniques applied.

In my practise, I commonly encounter patients with horrible memories of painful threadlifts which left them with severe bruising after. This issue seems to be the major bane to patients who've undergone threadlifts in Singapore, or those who're still considering the procedure.

Nose jobs, (or rhinoplasties), are one of my favourite topics for discussion. They are also one of my favourite procedures to perform. While it's often said that the eyes are the windows to one’s soul, it's your nose that forms the fulcrum upon which the entire aesthetic harmony of your face balances on.

There are many factors to consider before tailoring the exact type of rhinoplasty for the patient. In fact, planning and performing the surgery can get so daunting, many plastic surgeons simply choose not to perform rhinoplasties in Singapore.

I've noticed a trend as a medical aesthetic doctor over the last 5 years - surgical facelifts are waning in popularity amongst Singaporeans, mainly for the following 2 reasons:

  1. Prolonged downtime is not an option for most patients in Singapore. Facelift surgeries result in a lengthy recovery period of 2 - 4 weeks (sometimes up to 3 months).
  2. Society attaches a big taboo to “plastic surgery”. The number of people who tell you that they've done plastic surgery on their faces is probably less than the number of times that you've won 4D.

Hence, it's no wonder that the number of options for NON-SURGICAL face-lifts and skin tightening have increased drastically in recent years.
