Dr. Cheong Wai Kwong completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the National University of Singapore in 1980 and obtained the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of UK (MRCP) in 1986 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physician at the Royal College Of Surgeon Of Edinburgh, Uk.
At present, he is a dermatologist at the Specialist Skin Clinic in 1995. Prior to that, Dr Cheong has been practising Dermatology since 1986 in various hospitals including the National Skin Centre in Singapore, and in the St John’s Dermatology Centre in London. He underwent training at the St John’s Dermatology Centre, London in cutaneous photobiology and phototherapy. Besides treating general skin problems in both children and adults, he has special interest and expertise in the treatment of psoriasis, acne and acne scars and the use of ultraviolet radiation (phototherapy) for treating skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and vitiligo. He has also undergone training and worked in the field of sexually transmitted infections in London. With his vast clinical experience, Dr Cheong is experienced with the use of various lasers and IPL for treating acne, acne scars, pigment problems such as freckles and age spots and removal of tattoos and birthmarks as well as Exilis® and Thermage® for non-invasive facelift.
He conducts lectures extensively on skin conditions including acne, dermatitis, hair loss and seborrhoeic dermatitis and has led meetings for skin conditions with key opinion leaders in the region. He is a member of the P & G Olay Pro-X Global Dermatologist Alliance, medical advisor to the Psoriasis Association of Singapore and a member of the editorial advisory board for Shape magazine.
In recent months, Dr Cheong has been conducting advanced acne workshops for dermatologists and physicians in the region including Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
