Overview

Dr Edmond Phua graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2006. Following his graduation, he underwent rotations in both medical and surgical departments in various public hospitals. He also underwent several years of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care training before joining the private sector. He subsequently obtained his postgraduate diploma in Family Medicine and is also an accredited Family Physician since 2011.

Dr Phua has also been accredited in various aesthetic procedures such as fractional laser, skin rejuvenation and pigmentation laser, chemical peel, botox and filler injections by the Singapore Medical Council. During his time as a family physician in the private sector, he discovered his passion and interest in medical aesthetics after encountering numerous patients with skin problems. He saw how his patients feel more confident as their skin conditions improved with the combination of medical and aesthetic treatments. This spurred him to do medical aesthetics full time, and he has not looked back since.

Being a keen learner and one who constantly seeks to upgrade his skills and knowledge for his patients, Dr Phua further went on to obtain another postgraduate diploma in Practical Dermatology (Cardiff) in 2018. He strongly believes that everyone deserves to look and feel good, and modern aesthetics can help to achieve that safely and comfortably. The best cosmetic outcome should be achieved through a holistic approach, using a combination of aesthetic procedures customized for each individual, together with a well-balanced diet and lifestyle.

Botox of the masseter muscles relaxes the masster muscles and are useful in hypertrophied masseters and for facial shaping, i.e. getting a more defined jawline. It does not affect the bone at all, as the botox is injected into the masseter muscle bulk, and hence does not result i...

There will definitely be some volume loss after the HA fillers are reabsorbed, but you will not be left worse off than prior to the HA filler injection. This is because besides volume replacement, HA fillers stimulate collagen production as well. This also helps with some volume ...

Radiofrequency is not the right treatment for master reduction. The masseters are a pair of muscles. If you're talking about muscle bulk reduction, injection of botulinum toxin will be the correct treatment. However, I will recommend adding energy device treatment like Ulthera to the jowls after ...

There are a few possibilities. 1. Currently, there are different HIFU treatments available on the market. Some require more than 1 treatment to see results, some will only need one treatment to see results, e.g. Ultherapy. Hence depending on which type and brand of HIFU you did, the results may d...

From the picture given, there is still some skin laxity seen. Firstly, for the type of HIFU treatment that you did, what was the recommended number of sessions? This is because some HIFU treatments require more than 1 treatment e.g. monthly treatment x 3 sessions to see the full effect. Secondly...

If you are suffering from comedomal form of acne, you should wash your face twice daily with a suitable cleanser and use oil free and non-comedogenic skin-care products especially if you have oily skin.
