Dr Eric Wee has over 15 years of experience in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He specializes in digestive and bowel problems such as gastric pain, reflux, bloating and irritable bowel syndrome, as well as pancreatic and liver diseases such as viral hepatitis, fatty liver and cirrhosis. He performs endoscopic therapy for inoperable gastrointestinal cancers. He currently practices at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
Dr Wee has performed over 10,000 endoscopic procedures such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound and enteroscopy. He completed a fellowship in advanced endoscopy at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, one of the Centres of Excellence identified by the World Endoscopy Organisation and Mayo Clinic.
Dr Wee’s past appointments include the Head of the Division of Gastroenterology and Chairman of the Nutrition Workgroup at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, a senior clinical lecturer at the National University of Singapore (NUS), a visiting consultant at the gastroenterology departments of Tan Tock Seng Hospital and National University Hospital, and Associate Programme Director of the National Healthcare Group (NHG) Gastroenterology Senior Residency Programme.
Currently, he is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom, a Member of the American Gastroenterological Association and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore. He is also an executive committee member of the Gastroenterological Society of Singapore and the Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.
Having many experience and knowledge, Dr Wee has published articles and co-authored book chapters on gastric pain, gastrointestinal bleeding, endoscopy and nutrition and was appointed appointed by the Academy of Medicine to provide advice on the care of a patient as an independent medical expert.
