About Dr Gerald Tan

Formal Education

After spending 12 years in the prestigious Anglo-Chinese School, Dr Gerald Tan graduated with a a Bachelors Degree in Dental Surgery from the faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore in 2003. He went on to pursue post-graduate qualifications in 2007 and 2008 from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgery, Sydney and the Faculty of General Dental Practice and the Faculty of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons of England in London respectively. He achieved a Honorary Fellowship to the International College of Dentists, Michigan, USA in 2015. As of 2019, he is one of only two dental surgeons in Singapore who is recognized with membership in the prestigious Joint Dental Faculties, Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Professional Experiences and Posts

He was voted by his peers to be the youngest and longest serving president of the Aesthetic Dentistry Society of Singapore (ADSS) from 2012-2016. ADSS also selected him to be on the Singapore Dental Association’s Ethics Committee in 2014. His past experience as a commissioned dental officer at the Singapore Armed Forces, National Dental Centre Singapore, SingHealth Polyclinics, and the School Dental Centre, Health Promotion Board enriched him with necessary skills to open his own private group practice in 2013 by the name of Elite Dental Group, with a vision to eliminate severe dental anxiety often associated with complex dental treatment. Since graduating in 2003, Dr Tan has travelled to over 35 cities all around the globe and has attended over 100 postgraduate dental seminars, symposiums, exhibitions, courses, and internships at the best and most well-respected dental clinics in the world.

Personal Life

Outside of the clinic, Dr Tan volunteers at the Singapore Zoo where he offers dental treatment for animals in need. He goes on medical and dental mission trips to developing communities such as the ones organised by the Medical Ministry of Wesley Methodist Church. He is actively involved in The Anglo-Chinese School Old Boys' Association and plays competitive tennis.
