About Dr Gerald Tan

Dr Gerald Tan graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore in 2003 with a Bachelors of Dental Surgery. He then obtained his first post-graduate qualifications from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgery, Sydney, in 2007, and his second from the Faculty of General Dental Practice and Faculty of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons of England in London, 2008.

As of 2019, he is currently one of only two dental surgeons in Singapore who is recognised with membership in the prestigious Joint Dental Faculties, Royal College of Surgeons of England. In 2015, he was conferred an honorary Fellowship to the International College of Dentists, Michigan USA, for his outstanding contributions to the dental fraternity in Singapore, leading to multiple mentions as a leading dental surgeon in Singapore in the Leading Physicians of the World publication based in New York, USA.

Of note are also multiple mentions in The Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao, 938FM, Mind your Body, and a myriad of other social media platforms. Since graduating in 2003, Dr Tan has travelled to over 35 cities all around the globe and has attended over 100 postgraduate dental seminars, symposiums, exhibitions, courses and internships at the best and most well respected dental clinics in the world, bringing back best practices and knowledge to his own group practice: Elite Dental Group, which he founded in 2013.

From 2012-2016, Dr Tan served as the youngest and longest-serving President of the Aesthetic Dentistry Society of Singapore (ADSS) and he continues to serve on its board as a Past President in 2019. He was also nominated by ADSS to be a member of the Singapore Dental Association’s Resource Panel for its Ethics Committee in 2014. Dr Gerald Tan has obtained wide experience after serving as a commissioned dental officer at the Singapore Armed Forces, National Dental Centre Singapore, SingHealth Polyclinics and the School Dental Centre, Health Promotion Board before moving out to the private sector.

As a general practitioner, he discovered his natural talent and calling for Aesthetic Dentistry and Dental Implant Surgery, as he realised his training and skills suited patients looking for a more personalised and bespoke service, blending beauty with strength and function, with minimal pain and fuss.

Dr Tan’s bespoke custom smile design process starts with listening to the clients’ wants, desires and concerns and that is very often what matters most, before a unique treatment plan can be tailored. Dental anxiety is a significant concern for many of his patients, and he is proud to share with his patients that every system, protocol, staff training method and equipment that he has acquired in Elite Dental are catered to create the most comfortable patient experience.

Besides his interests in Dental Aesthetics and Implants, Dr Tan is a strong advocate of combining modern computerised dental technology with traditional values of meticulous craftsmanship to create beautiful smiles.

Lastly, as an animal lover, he is a volunteer at the Singapore Zoo where he provides dental treatment for animals in need of dental care. He also volunteers on medical mission trips to developing communities such as the trips organised by the Medical Ministry of Wesley Methodist Church. He is also a keen sportsman and was a member of the Tennis teams for Anglo-Chinese School,  Singapore Armed Forces and National University of Singapore.

As of 2019, Dr Tan’s present professional appointments are:

  • Immediate Past President, Aesthetic Dentistry Society of Singapore
  • Fellow, Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgery, Sydney Australia
  • Fellow, International College of Dentists, Michigan USA
  • Member, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry

Dental Implant Costs In Singapore: A Dentist Tells All

In the world of dentistry today, there's a whole lot of unknown factors where dental implant costs are concerned.

When you buy a car, you want to know exactly what you're paying for - be it the car make and country of origin, OMV/COE price, or fuel efficiency. A 4 series BMW coupe, for example, will naturally cost you much more than a Mazda sedan.
