Overview

The clinical director and co-founder of the Orthodontic Clinic, Dr Geraldine Lee believes that everyone deserves a beautiful smile and enjoys working with her patients to achieve the smile they've always wanted.

She is a Dean’s List graduate from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and was awarded the University Bronze Medal. She obtained her Masters of Dental Surgery in Orthodontics from NUS, as well as the Membership in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, who awarded her Best Overseas Candidate.

She is a Fellow of the Academy Of Medicine of Singapore and the World Federation of Orthodontists, and is a registered Dental Specialist in Orthodontics with the Singapore Dental Council. Her experience in orthodontic treatment encompasses interceptive treatment for young children, conventional orthodontic treatment for children, teenagers and adults (metal, ceramic and self-ligating brackets), and surgical orthodontics for patients with facial and jaw deformities. She is also experienced in aesthetic options for braces such as Lingual Braces and Invisalign™.

Her passion and dedication for Orthodontics do not confine her to clinical work. Dr Lee was the President of the Association of Orthodontists (Singapore) (AOS), and has been an executive committee member of AOS since 2009. She is the Chair of the Chapter of Orthodontics of the College of Dental Surgeons in Singapore, and is a member of the Dental Specialist Accreditation Committee for Orthodontics. Dr Lee enjoys sharing her knowledge with students and is a Clinical Lecturer to the Postgraduate Orthodontic programme at NUS as well as a Visiting Specialist at the National Dental Centre. Her clinic sees a steady stream of young interns with keen interests in dentistry.

Dr Lee has a special interest in digital orthodontics to enhance patient care and communication, and is a key opinion leader for 3Shape, one of the leading intraoral scanners in the market. She lectures both locally and regionally on digital advances in orthodontics.

Hi Sharon, The reason for your underbite is probably due to an imbalance between your jaws, and/or the position and angulation of your teeth. From your photos, your lower jaw does seem more forward than your upper, and it is also off to the right hand side. An imb...

Hi Lunaru, Of course you can always modify your treatment plan midway through Invisalign treatment. Good communication between your orthodontist/dentist is essential to successful treatment. There must be a reason for your clinician deciding on the final result of the clinch...

Dear Lunaru, The decision to extract, or not to extract, for any case depends on several factors, such as the facial and lip profile (e.g. are the lips protruding?) the amount of overlap or crowding of the teeth, how much the teeth are flared forward with respect to the bone...

Dear Alexis, Couldn't agree more with Dr Poon. As orthodontists, we do see a greater proportion of patients in their late teens/early 20s coming to see us with regards to overlapping of the lower front teeth in particular. There are many theories for this late crowding, however t...

Dear Z, As long as the aligners are fitting well and are well seated, rest assured you have nothing to worry about! I would have to agree with Dr Sylvia, we all have different pain thresholds and adapt differently to the aligners as it is something new. Some patients feel more discomfort than ...

Dear Emory, Braces and Invisalign are all tools an orthodontist uses to treat patients. There are many factors which may lead to the decision of selecting one system over the other, such as cost, complexity of case, preference of the dentist for one system over the other (based o...

Dear Emory, Treatment planning of every patient requires detailed assessment of the facial profile and features, together with the intra-oral features, such as the amount of crowding present, and if the front teeth are flared forward, etc. Together with analysis of your X-ra...

Hi Qinwen, An overbite is a situation where the upper teeth overlaps excessively over the lower teeth. We need to assess what is causing the overbite, as it could be due to many reasons such as: 1) crowding of the teeth 2) underdeveloped or smaller lower jaw, or p...

Dear Connorp, Based on your photos, I am unable to assess the extent of your overbite. I do notice you have a lower jaw deviation to the left of your face. Braces or orthodontic treatment can definitely correct the alignment of the teeth and improve your overbite iss...

Dear Lynne, Many of my patients have asked me that question too, so rest assured, you’re not the only one wondering about it. In terms of creating a V-shaped face with a sharper chin, this is usually the illusion created as a result of moving the teeth inwards with ortho...
