Overview

The clinical director and co-founder of the Orthodontic Clinic, Dr Geraldine Lee believes that everyone deserves a beautiful smile and enjoys working with her patients to achieve the smile they've always wanted.

She is a Dean’s List graduate from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and was awarded the University Bronze Medal. She obtained her Masters of Dental Surgery in Orthodontics from NUS, as well as the Membership in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, who awarded her Best Overseas Candidate.

She is a Fellow of the Academy Of Medicine of Singapore and the World Federation of Orthodontists, and is a registered Dental Specialist in Orthodontics with the Singapore Dental Council. Her experience in orthodontic treatment encompasses interceptive treatment for young children, conventional orthodontic treatment for children, teenagers and adults (metal, ceramic and self-ligating brackets), and surgical orthodontics for patients with facial and jaw deformities. She is also experienced in aesthetic options for braces such as Lingual Braces and Invisalign™.

Her passion and dedication for Orthodontics do not confine her to clinical work. Dr Lee was the President of the Association of Orthodontists (Singapore) (AOS), and has been an executive committee member of AOS since 2009. She is the Chair of the Chapter of Orthodontics of the College of Dental Surgeons in Singapore, and is a member of the Dental Specialist Accreditation Committee for Orthodontics. Dr Lee enjoys sharing her knowledge with students and is a Clinical Lecturer to the Postgraduate Orthodontic programme at NUS as well as a Visiting Specialist at the National Dental Centre. Her clinic sees a steady stream of young interns with keen interests in dentistry.

Dr Lee has a special interest in digital orthodontics to enhance patient care and communication, and is a key opinion leader for 3Shape, one of the leading intraoral scanners in the market. She lectures both locally and regionally on digital advances in orthodontics.

Dr Lee was patient and professional throughout my entire treatment, as well as during all my post treatment follow up sessions. I am very happy with the results. I have and will continue to recommend friends to her, as well as my own kids when their need arises.

February 1st, 2018

As an orthodontist over the past 10 years, I’ve seen many Singaporeans with misconceptions about Invisalign and clear aligners treatment.

This guide tell will you all you need to know about Invisalign in Singapore, including perennial favourites such as:

  • The different types of Invisalign treatments available
  • My opinion on the key differences between Invisalign and traditional braces (as someone who still uses both on a regular basis)

Are there any solutions to correct an overbite without braces or Invisalign?

Hi Qinwen, An overbite is a situation where the upper teeth overlaps excessively over the lower teeth. We need to assess what is causing the overbite, as it could be due to many reasons such as: 1) crowding of the teeth 2) underdeveloped or smaller lower jaw...

How do I fix a crooked jaw and overbite? (photo)

Dear Connorp, Based on your photos, I am unable to assess the extent of your overbite. I do notice you have a lower jaw deviation to the left of your face. Braces or orthodontic treatment can definitely correct the alignment of the teeth and improve your overbite iss...

Will missing tooth shift/change my smile over a period of over 10 yrs?

Dear Macy, It really depends on the location of the tooth that was extracted. Losing a tooth closer to the front teeth may result in drifting of the teeth and cause the midline to shift. This in turn may affect your smile. If you only lost one tooth, it is unlikely to create...

What could cause my jaw to shift to the side?

Dear Amdprh, Yes I agree with Dr Sylvia, you may have some form of Temporomandibular disorder (TMD), which describes problems associated with the Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) – the joint that connects the jaw to the base of the skull. Many people have cracking or clicki...

Is a rotated molar during braces treatment a cause for concern?

Dear Redvelvet01, Yes I have to agree with Dr Sylvia. Molar rotations, as with other tooth movements are not uncommon during orthodontic treatment. Your orthodontist would correct this eventually, as the treatment progresses. At 4 months into treatment, there is still much to be ...

Do braces change your facial profile?

Dear Lynne, Many of my patients have asked me that question too, so rest assured, you’re not the only one wondering about it. In terms of creating a V-shaped face with a sharper chin, this is usually the illusion created as a result of moving the teeth inwards with ortho...

Do I have to extract my wisdom teeth before Invisalign?

Dear Jonathan, As Dr Chan mentioned, it all depends on the position of the wisdom teeth. I would say for most cases, the wisdom teeth do not affect invisalign or other orthodontic treatments. Removal of the wisdom teeth before Invisalign treatment would be advised when: 1) ...

Is there a way to fill a gap between teeth without using braces?

Hi, Firstly, I hope the pain has been resolved? Drifting of teeth with age is commonly associated with gum disease and the bone levels getting lower. This results in gaps between the teeth which were not previously there. The most important thing is to make sure you see your den...

What should I do if I have braces on, but have not gone back to see my dentist in 2 years? (photo)

Dear Gwen, Congratulations to you and your fiance on your engagement! I agree with Dr Eugene Chan on the importance of good oral health and regular visits to your orthodontist as the risk of tooth decay and gum disease increases. With braces on, it's undoubtedly more difficult...
