What Are Chondral Ulcers And How Can Surgery Help?

The joints in our body are important for our motion, daily functioning, and long-term well-being. However, accidents can happen at any age that compromise our motion.

Chondral ulcers are just one of the many types of conditions that affect joints and can range in severity and lead to rather severe complications if left unchecked.

Orthopaedic surgeon Dr Henry Chan took DoctorxDentist readers through the causes, treatments, and surgical procedures for chondral ulcers in Singapore.

Here's what he had to say.

Your Knee Pain Might Be More Serious Than You Think! This Orthopaedic Surgeon Tells You What To Look Out For

Nearly half of elderly Singaporeans suffer from knee pain, and 23.7% of Singaporean adults between the age of 18 and 50 are reported to be suffering from arthritis or chronic joint problems.

People often dismiss knee pain as nothing serious because it's just so common. However, it's important to realise that if your knee hurts, it's actually sending help signals to you. Don't ignore it for too long, as it might develop into something dangerous!

Dr Henry Chan, an experienced orthopaedic surgeon, hosted a DoctorxDentist Session where he gave advice on how you can get rid of knee pain

Here's what you need to know.

Meet The Expert: Dr Henry Chan

youtube video preview

Meet Dr Henry Chan, an orthopaedic surgeon who is very passionate about getting his patients moving and enjoying active lifestyles again. He has performed more than 5,000 knee surgeries till date to help his patients put the spring back in their steps!

He knew that he wanted to go into the field of Orthopaedics very early on in his career because he liked the hands on and 'instant' aspect of it. He finds it very rewarding when he retifies a broken bone, straightens a crooked leg, and sees his patients walking freely without pain after surgery.

Watch the video to find out how technology has changed the field of Orthopaedics and what makes him happy.
