Overview

Dr Jaclyn Toh Ai Lin qualified with honours from the prestigious Dublin Dental School and Hospital of Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. She is a member of the Singapore Dental Association, the College of General Dental Practitioners Singapore and the Aesthetic Dentistry Society of Singapore.

Dr Toh brings an eye for detail and a gentle touch to her work. She encourages her patients to take responsibility for their oral health and helps them customise positive lifestyle choices. She is passionate about bringing the best of the latest research into clinical practice through continuing clinical education.

Dr Toh advocates minimally-invasive and biomimetic dentistry following the Style Italiano philosophy, based on her experiences as a clinician and also as a patient.

She is passionate about endodontics (treatment of the root canals and pulpal disease) as an important part of her general practice of maintaining natural teeth where possible.

Dr Toh is a certified Invisalign provider, and has a special interest in combining restorative cosmetic dentistry with orthodontics. She also practices interceptive orthodontics for children. Early identification and treatment prevents severe skeletal or dental problems from becoming permanent, and needing surgery to correct in adulthood.

In her spare time, Dr Toh enjoys an active lifestyle. She enjoys early morning gym sessions and regular ballet classes.

I had a great experience with Dr Jaclyn when i had my filling done by her recently. Unbeknownst to me, I had a decay on my front tooth that was clearly visible in the X-rays that she took for me. She then told me that i needed to have a filling done and the reasons for it, which i r...

Dr. Toh is very patient and professional when explaining any dental treatments to me. I went through a crown treatment with her and I felt comfortable and confident leaving my dental health in her care.

Dr Jaclyn Toh is a perfectionist which is a quality that you would want in a dentist. I found out that I had tooth decay that required me to be put under local anaesthesia before receiving treatment. I am someone who is insanely afraid of needles and I was dreading having to get the...

Dr Jaclyn Toh is a professional when it comes to attending to her patients. She is always consistent with her actions and follow up accordingly with what she feels is only necessary and nothing else. As her patient, I have the privilege to have my fillings done by her. I can clea...

I'm currently doing my braces under Dr Jaclyn. She has been very informative and detailed about my treatment plan and procedures at every step. I like that she takes the time to explain the process and ensures that I understand what is going on. She also takes photographs at every v...

What could be the cause of a clicking sound at my jaw?

Dear Janet Chua, I have written a very extensive answer to a similar query HERE. The clicking noise may go away without treatment. I would avoid aggravating it by clicking your jaw on purpose (some patients are able to trigger the sound by moving their jaw in a certain way). Other good practices inc...

What are the recommended treatments if my lower jaw shifts to the left when I open my mouth?

Dear alethea96 g3,
It sounds like you have 2 issues that concern you.
1) Your lower jaw shifting to the left on opening
This is usually caused by some jaw joint (temporomandibular joint, or TMJ) degeneration on the left. TMJ disease ranges from elongation and distortion of the cushioning disc found ...

Is there a way to fill a gap between teeth without using braces?

Hi,
It sounds like you have 2 issues, one being the pain in your lower teeth and the other being gaps between your teeth after having a new crown made.
There could be several reasons for gaps appearing after a new crown is fitted. The crown could have the bite pressure distributed unevenly, causing ...

Is Botox or Radiofrequency treatment more effective for treating chronic teeth grinding?

Hi Jerry, From what I know of radiofrequency treatment, it is used for facial rejuvenation of the underlying dermal network (non-surgical face lifting). I have not heard of it being used for treating muscles. I have also not heard about electrocautery for facial muscles. This sounds like it might le...

What are the best treatment options for a badly chipped tooth?

Dear Lisa, If only the root of the tooth is remaining, with very little or NO tooth structure protruding above the gum, then it can be very unpredictable to repair this tooth. If there is a root remaining inside, then it needs to be assessed with an X-ray to check for possible causes of the fracture...

How can I get rid of a weird taste in my mouth?

Dear Jas,
Dehydration can cause unusual taste in the mouth and is worsened by use of alcohol-containing mouthwashes. Dehydration is common if you are not drinking water frequently throughout the day. You may also be consuming caffeinated (tea, coffee etc) beverages that reduce saliva production. Ver...

What affects the cost of dental X-Rays in Singapore?

Hi Serena, There are many types of dental X-rays with different indications. Some are taken to check for buried teeth or to survey the jawbone (an orthopantomogram or OPG). Other X-rays (bitewings) are used to check for cavities hidden in between the teeth and to check how much bone is remaining aro...

Is there such a thing as a dental implant specialist in Singapore?

Dear Lizzy, The Singapore Dental Council does not list implant dentistry as a separate specialty. You can access the list of recognised dental specialties here. The specialties that train dentists for implant placement are oral & maxillofacial surgery, periodontics (gum) and even endodontics (root c...

What should I do next for a wisdom tooth infection that is still causing pain?

Dear Yikai, It sounds as though you have pericoronitis of the lower left wisdom tooth. This is an infection caused usually by food trapping and bacteria build-up underneath the gum flap covering the wisdom tooth. The white liquid you can express from the infected area is pus, which is a combination ...

How much do braces cost in Singapore?

Dear Sarah, Dentists in Singapore practice in different geographic areas, serving a diverse population. Some clinics may refer patients who need braces to orthodontists, who have specialist training in braces. Other clinics may prefer to manage all aspects of general dentistry, including orthodontic...
