3. Experience

Dr Lim Jit Fong completed his MBBS at the National University of Singapore and fellowship at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Dr Lim then pursued his Advanced Specialty Training in General Surgery in 2003 and was awarded a Singapore General Hospital (SGH) fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. During his time there, Dr Lim underwent training in the management of functional defecatory disorders and minimally invasive colorectal surgery. Shortly after his return, Dr Lim joined SGH as a consultant in the Department of Colorectal Surgery until he left for private practice in 2011.

Aside from general practice, Dr Lim has a keen interest in minimally invasive colorectal surgery and is well-versed in laparoscopic (keyhole) colorectal surgery including single incision colorectal surgery and robotic surgery. Dr Lim also has extensive experience in performing laparoscopic colorectal operations as well as sharings and workshops concerning the topic at locally and internationally-held meetings.

Currently, Dr Lim holds several appointments including the President of the Society of Colorectal Surgeons (Singapore) and Vice-President of the Society for Continence (Singapore). Dr. Lim is also a member of the Singapore Medical Association and Faculty of Medical Experts (Academy of Medicine, Singapore) and also serves as a Visiting Consultant to the Department of Surgery at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and Sengkang Hospital.
