About Dr Joy Chan

Dr Joy Chan currently holds the Medical Director & Senior Consultant position at the Singapore International Eye Cataract Retina Centre. Other positions previously held was being a Consultant in the Ophthalmology Service department at both Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Jurong Medical Centre. She led the Oculoplastic service of Jurong Medical Centre and was in charge of dealing with a large range of Oculoplastic conditions. She was also a Consultant with the Department of Ophthalmology, National University Hospital (NUH). In the past, Dr Chan was a Clinical Lecturer and a Master of House at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). 

Dr Chan has honed an array of cataract surgery techniques, including the latest femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery and computer-guided toric intraocular lens implantation. An active academic, she has also released publications on novel surgical techniques for treating eyelid laxity, novel Ophthalmic imaging techniques and rare eye conditions. She has also conducted talks on Oculoplastic surgery at local and international conferences. 

Education
 
In 2004, Dr Chan obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine, NUS. After doing so, she got her Membership to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2008 and Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore in 2011. She went on to finish her Basic and Advanced Specialty Training at the Singapore National Eye Centre in 2011 and completed her fellowship training in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive (Oculoplastic) Surgery at NUH from 2012 to 2013.
