Professional Background

Dr Lim Choon Pin is a Consultant Cardiologist with special interest in Echocardiography, Advanced Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support Devices (Artificial Heart Pumps) and Heart Transplantation. He previously held a Consultant Cardiologist position at the National Heart Centre of Singapore (NHCS), but now acts as a Visiting Consultant there. He has since shifted to the private sector as an accredited specialist. The hospitals he works at include Gleneagles Hospital, Parkway East Hospital, Thomson Medical Centre, Mount Alvernia Hospital and Farrer Park Hospital.

Beyond overseeing general cardiology conditions like coronary artery disease and arrhythmia issues, Dr Lim looks after critically ill patients with advanced heart failure on life support and mechanical circulatory support systems in the Intensive Care Units. He is capable of performing basic and advanced transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, including 3-dimensional echocardiography, strain imaging and contrast echocardiography. 

Dr Lim Choon Pin serves as a Council Member of the Heart Failure Society of Singapore and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology and Academy of Medicine Singapore.

Academic Background

In 2003, Dr Lim graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the National University of Singapore (NUS). In 2008, He went on to achieve Membership to the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) (United Kingdom) and Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine degree from NUS. He finished his Cardiology specialization at NHCS in 2012 then continued to sub-specialize in Advanced Heart Failure, Heart Transplantation and Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD).
