If I accidentally scratch and pop a pimple, is it better to leave it as it is or to get rid the rest of it cleanly?

Hi,

For the best outcome, it may be best that you consult a doctor and treat the affected area with an antiseptic or antibiotic gel to prevent worsening of the skin inflammation which in turn leaves more significant scarring.

Physical removal of residual pus is rarely indicated and may aggravate the situation unexpectedly.

What is the best treatment for a post-trauma facial laceration?

Hello! Sorry to hear that you have a scar on your face from an accident. It is not easy to suggest what treatment options would be most suitable for you without seeing your scar. In general, scars should be treated early for optimal improvement. Depending on your scar, different combination treatment options can help. The most common scar after a laceration would be a pink scar that may be raised in areas. Such scars can usually be successfully treated with a combination of VBEAM laser and triamcinolone injections. Usually 5-6 monthly sessions may be required.

Can cortisone shots get rid of nodular acne? (photo)

Cortisone shots actually refers to what is known as intralesional steroid injections. It is a fairly effective way to treat persistent modular cystic acne. The injections are administered by a fine micro needle and the steroid administered can be mixed with some lidocaine to dilute it and lessen the discomfort. It works well because the steroid has a strong anti inflammatory effect thus reducing the size of the cyst as well as the redness. You can expect to see results within 3-5 days although in some cases there may be a small residual cyst .
