Can gout be permanently cured?

Doctor's Answer

When you say “cured”, one presumes that this means you will never develop it again. This is difficult to say but if you take your medication during a flare, it should shorten the duration, and lifestyle modifications/medications can reduce the risk of developing it again. If you are “flare-free” for some time, you can try coming off the medications and continue the preventative measures through diet and lifestyle.
