Norethisterone is a type of progesterone hormone pill that can be used for various reasons, eg heavy periods, delaying periods etc.

However, it is important to note that Norethisterone is NOT a contraceptive pill. Meaning, it does not provide you with birth control effects.

Hence, to answer your question simply, the answer is yes, there is a chance you may get pregnant if you are taking this medication and having unprotected intercourse without additional contraception.

If you are taking Norethisterone, it is important to speak to your doctor about additional contraception if you are not intending to get pregnant.

How long should I wait before seeing a doctor if my period is late?

If your period has already been late by 3 months and you have already ruled out the possibility of pregnancy, then it would be advisable to see a doctor for this as soon as possible. This is so that we can do further investigations to rule out other causes of a delayed period. You may also be given medications to induce your periods as a prolonged time of not getting your period can potentially lead to an unhealthy womb lining.

How can I give birth naturally if I am overweight?

In general, there are a few considerations that we will look at for natural birth in overweight mothers: 1. Stage of your pregnancy 2. Size of your baby 3. Position of your baby 4. Presence of existing medical conditions or complications such as diabetes, position of your placenta etc. Of course, if you are in the pre-pregnancy stage and planning for a child with the goal of delivering naturally, then it is highly advisable to kick-start a weight loss programme.
