Can I still be pregnant if my period came after having sex?
Pregnancy Gynaecology Women's HealthI had unprotected sex using the withdrawal method. 9 days later, I had my period. I haven't had sex since that period. I would like to know whether there is any possibility that I could still be pregnant if my period came after I had sex.
The withdrawal method is an extremely unreliable method of birth control.
If your period has already come, then the chances of you being pregnant is low.
However, vaginal bleeding, especially if light spotting, may also be an early sign of pregnancy, which may sometimes be mistaken for a girl's menstural period.
If in doubt, given the fact that you have had unprotected intercourse, my advice will still be to do a urine pregnancy test to be certain. This will also give you a peace of mind.
Moving forward, I strongly urge you to speak to a reliable doctor who has experience in birth control and women's health to discuss proper and reliable birth control methods that you may consider, especially if you are not planning to get pregnant at this point of time.
Hope this addresses your concerns!
