Can Rejuran be combined with HA fillers like Restylane for better results?

Doctor's Answers 2

If you are referring to hyaluronic acid(HA) skinboosters, Rejuran can be combined with non cross-linked skinboosters which will provide additional deep hydration to the dermis and plumping up the skin, leading to reduced appearance of fine lines, in addition to the rejuvenative and reparative effects of Rejuran. Though Rejuran has been reported to react with cross-linked HA fillers causing granuloma formation, experts have now agreed that it can be safely used together with lightly cross-linked HA skinboosters like Vital and Vital Light.

Rejuran has been reported to react with cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers, causing granuloma formation (this shows up as hard nodules). The proposed mechanism is through reaction of the polynucleotides with BDDE – the chemical used for cross linking in most fillers. Hence, you are advised NOT to have Rejuran PN/PDRN if you have had heavily cross-linked HA fillers within a year.

However, it is definitely safe to undergo a course of Rejuran treatment first and then subsequently have cross-linked filler injections about 1 week after that, as by then the Rejuran would have been fully integrated into your skin.

Speak to your doctor who will be able to advise you in depth .

Indeed, Rejuran can be combined with HA fillers (at this time just non cross-linked HAs); the HA provides the strong hydration effect which Rejuran lacks, and Rejuran provides the strong stimulatory effect that HA might not provide. The choice of the filler therefore depends first and fore-most on the lack of its cross-linking and should best be left to the doctor to decide on.

You can have this done by either combining the two in a single session (manually combining two different syringes, or by using the Rejuran Hb pre-mixed syringe), or performing the treatments at different intervals.

Hope this helps with your questions!

How long should I wait after fillers before proceeding with Ultherapy or HIFU treatment?

Great question. The sequence of aesthetic treatments are important since multi-modality treatments are a norm these days. Because of HA filler injections used, I generally wait for 3-4 weeks later, before proceeding with HIFU treatment. Although there is no clinical studies, however this recommendation is backed by consensus from experienced doctors who are key opinion leaders in Aesthetic Medicine. My preference is to be safe and steady, to yield the best results for my patients and minimize any potential side effects/ complications. Hope this helps.

Can excessive Hyaluronic acid fillers be dissolved 1 year later?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers can be removed using Hyaluronidase (Hyalase). Usually 1 session is needed. However, for HA fillers that still remain even after 1 year, more sessions may be needed for best results. Hope that this helps!
