Can the ICL lens be removed or replaced for any reasons?

Doctor's Answer

Hi Jing Shen,

Absolutely! ICL lenses may be removed early if there are rare intractable complications like angle-closure glaucoma, persistent inflammation or declining endothelial cell counts.

ICL lenses are routinely removed in later life prior to cataract surgery as well.

So in answer to your concerns, ICL lenses may be removed for any reason, although this is rarely needed unless cataract surgery is being performed.
