In general belching or burping is a normal body mechanism to reduce the pressure build up in the upper digestive tract. This is especially so after a full meal. If burping is the only symptom without regurgitation or heart burn, and your child is not too disturbed by it, you can probably watch for a while.
During eating, both food and air enters the digestive tract. The ingested air can either be absorbed through the intestines or expelled during burping or passing wind. If there is a process which slows the digestive rhythm significantly, more gas can be produced or accumulated.
So as a start, consider providing your child smaller meal portions with adequate fiber and water to avoid constipation. Regular bowel movements signify a healthier digestion and allow excessive gas in the gut to escape. This alone may help with the burping. If this does not work and the burping persist, consider getting a proper consult with your family doctor.
