What are the compounds in daily facial products I should avoid when experiencing post-pico laser side effects

Doctor's Answers 1

In general, after any laser treatment, whether in the presence or absence of side-effects, a daily skincare regimen should be kept simple to allow full healing to occur.

Hence, abrasive cleansers, toners, masks and any acidic products should be avoided. This can prevent any bad reaction or uncomfortable feeling on the skin, which can include the feeling of itching or more redness.

In the presence of side-effects, it is important that you are reviewed by your performing doctor early and closely so that the specific side-effects may be dealt with quickly and correctly to minimize the risk of more permanent complications from developing.

When is it safe to continue regular facial spa sessions after Pico laser treatment?

After a pico-laser treatment session, I would recommend waiting for an interval of 10-14 days before patients actually commence for regular facial spa treatments. This is to allow and also ensure that there is adequate time for the skin healing to occur. Although there are no to minimal downtime for pico-laser treatment after each session, there might be some side effects. These side effects include redness, swelling, dry skin and sensitivity that might irritate the skin further from the ingredients or substances used in the facial spa treatment.
