Does 2.0% fusidic acid help to clear up cystic acne? Are there any side effects (such as more breakouts)?
I have been prescribe by my GPs Foban Cream which contains 2.0% fusidic acid to clear up two(2) cystic ance today.
I am also taking Oratane for 2 months now and epiduo gel cream to apply on the rest of my ance. And, I have seen a huge improvement on my face.
I used to apply Betamethasone Steriods and then Foban cream which contains fusidic acid and other ingredients (fucicort) on my entire face. However, both cream temporarily heals my acne but after a while it cause more breakout and my acne seems to get worse.
So, I was then prescribe with Oratane. If I were to use back the Foban cream which contains fusidic acid will it worsen my ance again? Is there any side effects?
I would stick to Epiduo and Oratane (please complete the course as well).
I would not recommend topical Betamethasone and Fusidic Acid as they are not recommended 1st-line treatment options for acne at all.
There are other topical antibiotic creams to consider that are more effective against the bacteria in acne such as Clindamycin and Erythromycin.
For cystic acne, sometimes it may need to be extracted/ drained and injectable steroids would be more effective at arresting the inflammation and swelling as opposed to topical creams.
Hope that helps.
All the best!
