Does AGNES acne treatment treat only active acne?

Doctor's Answers 1

Agnes RF treatment using a microfine needle was designed to treat both active as well as nodular cystic acne. The presence of these active lesions allows the operator to correctly introduce the RF needle to the base of the hair follicle which leads to the hypersecreting sebaceous glands. The RF energy will destroy the sebaceous gland leading to a clearance of the clogged sebum and inflammation.

By non-active, I presume you are referring to the leftover residual acne marks. Although we do really advocate treating these lesions, the RF needle can also be used to reduce the sebaceous gland activity in these lesions.

Hope this helps

You have got several issues at the moment: 1) Active Acne2) Post-inflammatory erythema (red spots)3) Atrophic acne scars - ice pick, box, rolling The AGNES provides a good option for active acne as: 1) It is a permanent way of destroying the over-active sebaceous gland 2) Is a good alternative to other forms of permanent acne management in patients who are not keen or fit for it, such as oral isotretinoin It should, however, be used together with other measures to control you skin's overall climate.

How effective is Agnes laser treatment for acne at the chin? (photo)

I usually combine different treatments for such cases. This include topicals, oral medications and machine driven treatment. For your case, besides topical antibiotics, oral Isotretinoin (eg. Oratane) will be worth considering in combination with machine-driven treatment such as lasers. Agnes also targets acne via Radiofrequency energy but is not a permanent cure for acne. Do have a consult with your doctor so that an appropriate treatment plan can be tailored to your needs. Hope that helps. All the best!
