How effective is microneedle RF in reducing sebum secretion?

Doctor's Answers 1

Microneedling RF can be quite effective in reducing sebum secretion. Heat generated from the RF needles can have a similar effect as heat from various lasers which can cause shrinkage of sebaceous glands and consequently decrease secretion.

The Agnes microneedling RF stands out because it can not only decrease sebum excretion but also deliver high enough energy for selective and complete removal of unwanted sebaceous glands. This can provide a more long-lasting solution for patients with skin diseases as a result of sebaceous gland malfunction.

I personally use various types of microneedling RF to treat different skin conditions and cosmetic concerns.

Can I safely use acne topical products such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid if I am on antidepressants?

To answer your question, yes, you may. In fact, topical acne medications that you have listed (benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid) have no interactions with your anti-depressant therapy. With that said, it is also not associated with aggravating depression. On the other hand, if your acne is severe and oral isotretinoin is being considered, then these topical acne medications must be used with caution. This is due to the fact that isotretinoin may aggravate an underlying depressive illness or psychiatric disorders [1].
