What are more effective treatments to treat redness on the forehead, chin and cheeks? (photo)

Doctor's Answers 1

Facial redness is often due to a combination of facial sensitivity, irritation and/or ongoing skin inflammation.

To treat your facial redness, having a personal consultation with your doctor is required. Your doctor must first diagnose the underlying cause or causes of your facial redness after conducting a thorough history and physical examination.

Only when the cause and contributing factors have been identified, an effective treatment is prescribed. Effective treatments may include:

  • Gentle cleanser
  • Moisturizers
  • Topical medications to reduce inflammation
  • Oral medications to reduce skin inflammation
  • Vascular lasers. They may help if abnormal blood vessels are contributing to the redness

Hope this helps!

When are oral steroids given for hives? (photo)

Sorry to hear that your child has developed hives after an episode of viral illness. I agree with Dr Colin Theng that a viral infection is most likely the trigger for this episode and antihistamines such as cetirizine would be the mainstay of treatment. I would usually optimise the dose of antihistamines for good control. If the maximum dose is still not able to control your child's hives, then a course of prednisolone may need to be considered. These medicines will help to switch off the activity of mast cells which have gone into overdrive, causing the appearance of hives.

How many Rejuran sessions are necessary for the best results?

Hello TH, Rejuran is a very good product that I like to use for skin rejuvenation and repair. It is usually done 3 to 4 times 3 to 4 weeks apart for the best result. It is suitable for all skin types and there is minimal downtime to the procedure. Hope this helps!
