Basically HIFU and Ultherapy are referring to the same technology.
Ultherapy is the first and original HIFU technology used for the face and neck for skin tightening. HIFU is the generic technology of high intensity focused ultrasound. Since then, there are many different versions of HIFU being manufactured and sold to doctors.
The difference between Ultherapy and HIFU is not as big as Korean picosecond lasers (1064nm, 532nm Ndyag) and PicoSure (755nm Alexandrite laser), thus, what would influence your decision should be more of
- the doctor’s experience using the treatment, the results he can achieve (based on before-after photos of his patients that he is able to show you)
- the pain level (different HIFU machines and settings have different levels of pain)
- and the kind of analgesia offered.
In my experience, using nerve blocks during HIFU treatment allows for a much higher level of patient comfort.
Having said that, there is a new facelifting device with Intelligent RF™️ and Logic Therapeutic Control™️ called TempSure which is a painless facelift and wrinkle-reducing device which you can look out for.
