I've been having gastric pain with fever for weeks and medication does not seem to work. Are any less invasive alternatives for an endoscopy?

I am afraid the symptoms you experienced are not typical of an ordinary gastric pain.

In general, gastric pain, which is mostly acid related, does not come with any fever. When one experience an upper abdominal pain with fever, there is a possibility of problem originating from the gallbladder, liver or the pancreas.

This explains why the medicine which you took wasn't working as expected.

My advice is that you get yourself properly assess soonest possible by a doctor to see if there is a need for further investigations such as blood tests or scans.

Endoscopy, although minimally invasive, may be required especially if there is a suspicion of bleeding from the digestive tract. At times, specialized type of endoscopy (e.g. ERCP) may also be necessary if your problem originates from infection of the bile duct due to gallstones.

In the meantime, do record down your temperature, watch for black stools or tea-coloured urine which can help your doctor in narrowing down the source of your problem and to arrive at the correct diagnosis and treatment plan.

How do the different types of contact lenses affect user vision quality and eye health e.g. soft, hard, spherical, toric, RGP, monovision?

In general, soft contact lenses are a lot more comfortable than rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lenses. They are also much easier to fit, and can give very good vision. Both soft and RGP lenses may be suitable for many people. But each has their potential pros and cons. For example, soft contact lenses maybe a little more drying to the eye than RGPs, and for people with very high spectacle powers, sometimes soft contact lenses may not allow such a long period of wear each day because of issues with oxygen transmission with thick lenses.

How can TCM cupping help with gastric pain?

Generally, gastric pain is accompanied by the following symptoms: a feeling of fullness, belching or burping, heartburn, nausea, and vomiting, among other symptoms. The causes of gastric pain can be due to: mental and emotional factors, dietary factors (e. g. eat unhealthy food, improper diet) cold, fatigue, etc. TCM cupping can help to alleviate the symptoms of gastric pain by administering cupping treatment on the shen-que and zhong-wan points. To do that, the TCM physician will cup the points for 5-10min each. This is repeated 2-3 times.
