Why is HIFU not suitable for people with bony facial features without much fat in the face?

Doctor's Answers 2

I don't think its a matter of whether its suitable but the purpose of doing the HIFU and whether pain tolerance is an issue.

I think anyone with laxity of skin can do HIFU - but I have found that high energy settings lead to significant volume loss, and in an already skinny face, it would be counterproductive.

The solution is to do more shots, but with a lower energy setting.

The Ultherapy's initial white paper showed that more shots is beneficial compared to fewer shots with high energy. That is the approach I take if I want to solve laxity, as it is less painful and also less likely to lead to volume loss.

How does corrective jaw surgery changes facial features?

Thank you for your question and for including a profile photo to help me understand your concerns better. From the photo you sent, it appears that your lower jaw and chin is relatively more pronounced and in a more forward position. The angle between your upper lip and your nose is slightly less than 90 degrees and may possibly indicate that your upper teeth do slant forwards to compensate for the more forward position of the lower jaw. Your lip position is quite acceptable and they do close quite nicely, though the lower lip is more forward than the upper lip.

What are effective treatments to remove fat under the chin? (photo)

Thank you for your question and sharing your photo. There are many options for removing fat and sculpting the chin. They include facial massage, injections to dissolve fat, cryolipolysis, and liposuction. Some methods are effective whilst others may not be. Cryolipolysis is a method of fat removal by freezing of the fat cells using the application of a handpiece to cool the tissue to sub-zero temperatures (between -11 to +5 °C). This is a non-invasive technique that allows localised reduction of fat deposits. One or more sessions may be required to get the desired outcomes.
