Here are two simple tips I give to all my patients with regards to caring for their dental bridge/crown:

1. Treat it as if it were your own natural tooth. Brush two times a day for at least two minutes each, floss at least once a day and visit a dentist two times a year.

It is essential to continue with these oral care routine as a dental bridge/crown is equally susceptible to decay along the gum line. If you are unsure of how to floss effectively, ask your dentist so that he/she can guide you.

2. Try not to bite very hard things. For example: ice, nuts, crusty bread, dried fruit. You should also refrain from using your dental bridge/crown as a tool to open a bottle or crack open seafoods. These can cause the bridge to chip or break.

Debonding or chipping on fracture can occur due to other reasons but regular checks by your dentist can help predict any failures and help develop a solution.

Are dental implants the best option to replace a missing tooth?

Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear about your accident. “What dentistry procedures would you recommend to replace the tooth? Is implant the best option? ” I assume that the teeth in question are your 2 front teeth? The methods that you can consider to replace your front tooth would be: Dental Implant: Most stable and aesthetic if done well, highest longevity if well maintained. However it is costly and there is a need for surgery. (Dental implant costs are Medisave claimable for the surgical component) Bridge: Good aesthetics achievable.

Is there a chance of tooth decay if my tooth filling was placed before my tooth was dry?

thanks for your question. Perhaps your dentist may have done some gentle air drying using the triple function syringe attached to the chair? The same instrument sprays both water and air so both might have been done within a short period of time? Or perhaps your dentist dried it through use of cotton pellets and cotton rolls? In my clinical practice, I do indeed find that the best results from fillings are often yielded after adequate moisture control is achieved.
