Hi, my complexion is rather good but I would like to tighten my pores. What procedures would you recommend, and how long/what frequency should I be doing it?

Also, what treatment would u recommend if I want to make my cheek bones more defined like Kim Kardashian? Thanks.

Hi Peaches,

I totally agreed with what Dr Chua has mentioned. Those lasers are good to reduce the appearance of large pores.

If you have acne scars and can afford downtime,

  1. Fractional CO2
  2. Erbium:Yag
  3. Erbium:Glass
  4. Thulium
  5. Fractional picosecond lasers can kill 2 birds with one stone

If your pores are not too bad and you cannot afford downtime, a carbon laser peel (Q-switch ND:Yag laser) with proper skincare might just do the job. However, repeated treatment is needed to achieve optimal result.

For your second question, it is not difficult to make your cheek bones more defined by using hyaluronic acid filler. It is minimally invasive, cheaper, and has very low downtime if any.

However, if your face shape is wide and your chin is short, you will not look good with high cheek bones. A proper face to face consultation and assessment is needed. The filler injection skills and the artistic sense of the injector is important to achieve a natural looking result.

Hi Peaches,

Cheek bones can be made more defined with filler injections. This is a simple procedure with no downtime. Defined cheekbones can further enhance one’s look and at the same time help to lift the mid-lower face.

Depending on the type of fillers you chose, they can typically last from 6 months to up to 2-3 years.

Pores can be tightened with various treatments. This can be divided into treatments with or without downtime.

The carbon laser peel can help to reduce pore size without any downtime. This procedure can be repeated every 2 weeks for better results.

If downtime can be tolerated, ablative lasers such as the fractional CO2 or RF microneedling with Intracel or Infini, can be used to produce better, longer lasting results. Typically the treatment can be repeated monthly.

For both types of treatment, it is usually recommended to have 4-8 sessions done.

Another alternative would be to consider skin boosters which, besides reducing pore size, can help to hydrate the skin and improve the skin texture.

Hope this helps!

Hi Peaches,

For pores, there are several effective treatments available that can address this issue:

  1. Venus Viva Radiofrequency
  2. Thulium Laser
  3. Fractional CO2/ Erbium
  4. Collagen stimulators
  5. Hollywood Peel with the Specta XT laser (no downtime)
  6. Chemical peels

Each treatment has its advantages and will really depend on your requirements and needs.

For non-surgical cheek bone augmentation, this can be easily achieved with fillers.  With proper placement, a mid-face lift can also be achieved, together with more defined cheek bones.

Nonetheless, a consult would be ideal so that a more accurate assessment can be done first and the appropriate treatment advised.

Hope that helps.

All the best!

Hi peaches,

Resurfacing lasers are good for tightening pores. The ablative options include the fractional CO2 and Erbium:Yag, the non-ablative options include the Thulium, Erbium:Glass and the long pulsed ND:Yag lasers. Which combination and frequency to treat them depend on your individual condition, but usually the non-ablative options are repeated no earlier than every 2 weeks, and the ablative options no earlier than 4 weeks.

Fillers are the minimally invasive technique to make the cheekbones more defined. Surgery offers a more long lasting alternative by placing implants underneath.

Hope this helps!
