How can I get the most accurate results from the pre-LASIK assessment?

Doctor's Answer

Hi Ziqi

In general - the most accurate assessment for you would be performed by a team of experienced eye-care professionals (optometrists and ophthalmologists) who do the same assessment consistently on a large volume, and on a daily basis.

If the center that you choose has large operating volumes, it also means that the treatment algorithms will have been adjusted for the individual user and machines in order to optimize the surgical results for each patient.

Pre-Lasik assessment may be performed on the day of surgery, to as long as 1-2 months before the actual date of surgery, however some parts of the assessment may be repeated on the day of surgery (including refraction) if the interval between assessment and surgery is significant.

Just ensure that you are off your soft contact lenses for a minimum of 5-7 days prior to assessment / surgery, and at least 2 weeks for rigid gas permeable lenses.

Best of luck with your surgery!
