Thank you for your question. The type of treatment suitable for the scars would depend on the location of and the type of scars that are present. Scars could be keloidal, hypertrophic, widened, depressed; and may be hypo or hyper-pigmented.

If your scars are keloidal, then serial corticosteriod injections in combination with small amounts of botulinum toxin prior to surgical revision would be ideal.

If your scars are hypertrophic rather than keloidal, then serial corticosteriod injections would suffice. Widened and depressed scars require surgical revision.

If hyperpigmentation is the only issue, then a variety of lasers could help to lighten it.

Hypopigmented scars require surgical revision or tattooing.
