How can I remove warts on nose?

Doctor's Answers 2

There are many possible causes of a growth on the nose and it is best to get it assessed. A skin biopsy may be necessary to confirm the diagnosis. If it is a viral wart on the nose, this can be removed by electrocautery or liquid nitrogen treatment.

For the warty growths on the neck and armpits, they may be skin tags. This can be removed by electrosurgery if it bothers you.

Thank you for your question! Skin growths should be carefully assessed before removal. If they have been growing quickly, it may be useful to biopsy them for further investigation.

If not, electrocautery or CO2 laser ablation can remove them, usually in a single session.

Hope this helps.

How to tell the difference between callus and plantar warts? (photo)

Thank you for the question. Callus is due to hardening of the skin at sites of pressure and friction. The skin hardens and thickens in response to constant friction to the area. Viral warts are due to an infection by the HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) virus. When this appears on the feet, it is called a plantar wart. One way of differentiating between a wart and callus is to look for the presence of red dots, which are tiny blood vessels, at the base of the lesion. If this is seen, it favours the diagnosis of a viral wart. Loss of the overlying skin lines also favours a viral wart.

How do I treat a wart near my genital area?

For the treatment of genital warts, there are a few options. Liquid nitrogen is commonly use to freeze and destroy the wart. A few sessions spaced every one to 2 weeks may be required. Ablating the viral wart with laser or electrosurgery is another option. Topical creams like imiquimod and wartec can be used but these are prescriptive medications. You can visit your dermatologist for treatment of the warts. Some GPs may treat it too. For subsidized treatment, you can go the the DSC clinic in Kelatan lane.
