Having brown discharge may not necessarily mean you are having your period. Brownish discharge may be related to other causes instead.
This may indicate an underlying cause such as a vaginal infection, STDs or even other causes such as early pregnancy.
The best advice would be to get yourself checked if you are experiencing such symptoms so that you can find out if there is any underlying cause that needs to be treated.
For most women, bacterial vaginosis is a common bacterial vaginal infection that usually clears after a week of antibiotic treatment. If the infection is still recurrent after 6 months, this could indicate that your natural vaginal pH is too alkaline and you may want to restore this back to the natural mildly acidic environment which then makes you less susceptible to bacterial vaginal infections.
