How can one tell if spotting is due to a miscarriage or period?

Doctor's Answers 1

If you have missed your period or it is late and then you develop bleeding, you can perform a simple urine pregnancy test.

If this urine test shows that it is positive, then the bleeding that you are experiencing may be due to a potential miscarriage and it is best to then schedule an urgent consultation and ultrasound scan with a gynaecologist.

If the urine pregnancy test is negative, this is then due to a delayed menstrual period.

How can I give birth naturally if I am overweight?

In general, there are a few considerations that we will look at for natural birth in overweight mothers: 1. Stage of your pregnancy 2. Size of your baby 3. Position of your baby 4. Presence of existing medical conditions or complications such as diabetes, position of your placenta etc. Of course, if you are in the pre-pregnancy stage and planning for a child with the goal of delivering naturally, then it is highly advisable to kick-start a weight loss programme.

How long does it take to physically and mentally recover from a miscarriage?

1 in 4-6 women can miscarry. For most women, the recovery is rather fast and after 1 week, most women have recovered so much so that they can return to work if they so desire. after 1 month, the menstrual period usually returns. This indicates that the female hormones have more or less returned to normal and so the resumption of menses. For most of these women, it probably means a return to ovulation and fertility. The physical recovery is relatively fast and women can usually start sexual intercourse after 1 month.
