How can TCM help me to get pregnant more quickly?

TCM is a holistic treatment approach, which encourages a fully functional and well-kept body. It aims to improve all systems of your body and mind by regulating a good flow of qi and blood and balancing yin and yang in the body.

Herbal medication and acupuncture are the two most commonly administered treatments.

Herbal prescriptions are customised according to an individual’s body constitution.

Several herbs are combined to nourish and balance the body for better results.

On the other hand, acupuncture treatments involve inserting needles at specific acupoints along the meridians which regulate the flow of qi and blood.

Physicians will then monitor your progress and modify the treatment according to how your body responds to the prescriptions or acupuncture.

In fact, clinical practice has shown that treatment boosts fertility by improving the quality of egg and sperm, regulating ovulation and facilitating implantation.

It is a biological fact that the potential to conceive decreases as we age. But fret not, as you are below 30 years old, you still have a better chance of having a child. The best chance of conception is 5 days before you ovulate or when you are ovulating.

A TCM physician will first access your overall health condition through consultation. In addition to pulse reading and tongue assessment, the physician will ask multiple questions related to your menstrual period and fertility such as timeframe of trying to conceive, regularity of menstrual period, presence of any pelvic/lower abdomen pain or cramps etc..just to name a few.

From there, the physician can better understand your body constitution and recommend appropriate measures based on TCM diagnostic principles.

TCM treatments in improving fertility include acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping and/or herbal prescription based on individual needs.

Acupuncture helps to improve blood circulation, stamina and energy, thus improve the quality of egg.

Acupuncture can help reduce stress as well, and thus recommended but not limited to a person with 'Qi stagnation' diagnosis.

Moxibustion is normally used on individuals who have a tendency to feel cold most times and thus a 'yang deficiency' diagnosis.

Herbal prescription is often given as a concoction of multiple herbs and taken regularly. For females, herbs prescribed may vary according to the different phase of the menstrual cycle.

For better understanding, it's always best to consult a physician. Hope it helps.
