This appears to be a hypertrophic scar. Steroid injections have been shown to cause hypertrophic scars and keloids to regress, mainly by decreasing collagen and glycosaminoglycan synthesis, and reducing the inflammatory process in the wound by decreasing fibroblast proliferation. Studies have shown Response rates from 50% to 100%.

The injections can be done in the doctor’s office and it will be a relatively simple procedure. A few injections may be required for best results. Hope this helps!
