How do I get rid of dark inner thighs? (photo)

Treatment and the potential to improve really depends on what the pigmentation is secondary to. So more history need to be ascertained before knowing whether lasers will work or not, or whether the pigmentation is likely to come back and how many treatments would be needed.

The laser treatments recommended are essentially Q switch Nd:Yag laser which is the gold standard to laser treatment. However, a history and proper diagnosis will be able to tell you whether the laser is the way to go and what are the chances of it coming back.

The skin around the groin is usually thick and whitening creams often have a difficult time penetrating so manage your expectation on how much it will work but it can be one of the methods to try.

Lastly, you need to know if anything that causes it to appear is not constantly still around to further make it come back. Remember if the cause is not treated or avoided, it may be pointless to treat it.

The increased pigmentation can be lightened best with a combing approach:

1. Topical vitamin c and lightening serums used in conjunction with

2. Skin lightening lasers such as the q switched lasers

This may take several months of treatment, with each session between 2 to 4 weeks apart.

While complete clearance cannot be promised, significant lightening with blending with the surrounding skin can be attained.

Don't hesitate to drop by for a thorough consult before starting on any treatment.

I suggest 2 treatments for you.

1. Picosecond Laser to lighten your pigmentation. 4-5 sessions of monthly Laser treatments.

2. Topical Retinoids to speed up cell turnover and lighten pigmentation. You might need to apply this cream on a long term basis (3-4 months) to see good results.

What is the best skin whitening treatment for my underarm and inner thighs?

Thank you for your question. Darkening of the underarms and inner thighs happen when there is a stimulation of pigment cells in these areas. A common cause is skin irritation. When there is repeated shaving or wearing of tight clothing, skin around that area not only becomes thicker but darker too. Discoloration can also be related to genetics, certain medical conditions, and hormonal changes like those seen in pregnancy. Individuals with darker skin types often find that they are more susceptible to it.
