How do I get rid of redness at my cheeks that appears after I shower? (photo)

Doctor's Answers 1

It is difficult to be sure from the photo what the cause of your rash is. A possible diagnosis is facial eczema.

Often times, if the rash is persistent, there may be a triggering factor or aggravating factor. This includes contact with products that are too harsh or irritating. Sometime, you may even have a contact allegy to creams which is making the rash persist despite using the creams prescribed.

I would suggest you visit your dermatologist/doctor for a detailed examination and to rule out other causes of facial rashes. A patch test can be ordered if a contact allergy is suspected.

Is it possible to be rid of acne and bumps on my face entirely?

Nothing in life is permanent. It is true! except scars. So you are right, its important that we try to minimise the outbreaks when possible. If you are a male patient, I would opt to do Accutane and then tail down the dose and keep on a very low maintenance dose (which virtually eliminates side effects) and yet keeps the oiliness and pimples at bay. Topical products actually play a huge role in skin care. I have seen so many patients who come completely clueless, and using the most oily Korean moisturisers for their already oily skin--- because Korean stars are using it.

What are the causes and treatment for female adult acne?

I’m very sorry to hear that – acne sucks. Unfortunately, if I had to hazard a guess, clear skin all your life and a sudden onset of bad acne and big pores at the age of 29 sounds like a classical case of adult acne, where your sebaceous (or oil glands) go into overdrive. Adult female acne is defined as acne that develops after 25 years of age. There are two main causes: 1. Overactive hormones (hyperandrogenism). Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one possible cause. PCOS’s symptoms tend to be mild at first.
