Thanks for your question. Here are some useful tips on how to prevent an infection after a rhinoplasty revision:

  1. Take your antibiotics as prescribed by your plastic surgeon and also apply the antibiotic cream as instructed.
  2. Ensure that you do not drink whilst you are on medication, as the alcohol will affect the efficacy of the medications.
  3. Wash your hands before and after doing any wound care to the incisions.
  4. If you are a smoker, now is a good time to consider stopping. I usually advise my patients to stop smoking for at least 2 weeks before surgery and until the wounds have fully healed.
  5. Get lots of rest.
  6. Have a healthy and balanced diet.
  7. Check in with your doctor if you have any queries.

Hope this answers your questions. Have a good weekend!

How to get the best results from a rhinoplasty for a crooked nose?

Thank you for your question. Beauty is very subjective. You will have your own perception and your doctor may have another perception of what is attractive. For you to get the “best” results it is important that you know exactly what you want and are able to express that to your surgeon. There are some things that may not be possible to achieve and it’s important that your surgeon is realistic in what can and can’t be achieved. You can see photos of previous patients or you may be able to have a virtual simulation of the surgery.

How long should I wait before doing a correction after getting rhinoplasty done?

I’m sorry to hear that. Appropriate timing for surgical correction largely depends on what you are not satisfied with. Very often, post-surgical swelling can distort actual results in the early stage of recovery and you need to give it time to settle down. Some of the potential concerns that could occur which may be corrected in the early period of weeks to months include: 1. Notching of the nostril/ asymmetry of the nostrils 2. Large deviations of the nose 3. Hematoma in the nose 4.
