How do I treat a wart near my genital area?

Doctor's Answers 1

For the treatment of genital warts, there are a few options. Liquid nitrogen is commonly use to freeze and destroy the wart. A few sessions spaced every one to 2 weeks may be required.

Ablating the viral wart with laser or electrosurgery is another option. Topical creams like imiquimod and wartec can be used but these are prescriptive medications.

You can visit your dermatologist for treatment of the warts. Some GPs may treat it too. For subsidized treatment, you can go the the DSC clinic in Kelatan lane.

Thank you for your question! Skin growths should be carefully assessed before removal. If they have been growing quickly, it may be useful to biopsy them for further investigation. If not, electrocautery or CO2 laser ablation can remove them, usually in a single session. Hope this helps.

What are the risks of laser treatment around the genital area?

I totally understand your concerns. The genital area is a sensitive area that is prone to scarring. Every medical procedure has its benefits and risks. Laser removal of Fordyce spots is no exception. Apart from scarring, there are risks such as hyper-pigmentation (brown spots) or hypo-pigmentation (white spots). That being said, lasers are safe and effective in the Right Hands. Pulsed dye lasers and 1064nm Nd:YAG lasers are proven to be safe and effective laser treatments for Fordyce spots.
