Doctor's Answers 2

Thanks for the D2D. TCM embraces lifestyle change. A diet that is in sync with the treatment will definitely increase its efficacy.

Most of you have probably heard about “cold uterus”. it is a result of deficient Yang energy in the body. Yang is the warming energy that supports ovulation and implantation, thus facilitating reproduction. If uterus is cold and yang is weak, quality of eggs may be poor, ovulation and implantation may also be affected.

“Cold” symptoms may include feeling cold easily, cold limbs, cold abdomen, weak digestion, low back ache, irregular menstruation and menstrual cramps that feel better with heat.

Women with “cold uterus” should avoid or minimise cold and raw food, especially first thing in the morning, before and during menstruation. Reduce taking “cooling” drinks, such as bubble tea, green tea and liang teh. Instead, opt for tea with warming spices. Ginger, cinnamon and spices in Chai tea are good for supporting yang energy and warming the uterus.

Physician will provide dietary and lifestyle advice according to individual's body constitution. Adhering to the advice will help to boost fertility.

Is Colchicine safe for breastfeeding mothers?

I do agree with what Dr Ethan and Dr Jasmine have written about the risk of colchicine in breastfeeding. For treatment of oral lichen planus, there are many other treatment options available apart from colchicine and you should speak to your doctor and raise your concerns about the use of colchicine while you are breast-feeding and explore if alternative options are available for you.

How should I choose a gynae in Singapore if I have just found out that I’m pregnant?

Congratulations! There are literally textbooks written about this, but I shall summarise them into 5 main pointers for you to take note of: 1. Calculate your due date You can use this due date calculator here. Most doctors will see you when you are about 8 weeks pregnant. 2. Take your vitamins You need to start taking your prenatal vitamins every day.
