How does fat grafting with PRP improve results, and is it available in Singapore?

Doctor's Answers 1

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is only allowed in Singapore for Sports Medicine/Joint conditions like Acute Ligament and Tendon injuries.

This being said, Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is used in many developed countries for Cosmetic/Aesthetic/Plastic Surgery treatments as it is believed to enhance the recovery and results of these treatments.

There is recent evidence that PRP might improve the results of Fat grafting. As a matter of interest, Platelet rich plasma (PRP) has also been used overseas to enhance the results of Fractional Lasers for Acne Scars Resurfacing (2017).

Platelet rich plasma is also proven to be effective for treatment of hair loss (androgenic alopecia) However, PRP is not approved in Singapore for hair loss treatment yet. For other regenerative medicine treatments, you might want to consider Regenera Activa, which uses autologous micro-grafts.

Hope that this helps!

Dr Justin Boey

How long will the redness after fractional CO2 laser take to go away? (photo)

I agree with Dr Chua. In addition, to answer your question on whether you should post-pone the 2nd session. I personally wait for the redness to subside before performing subsequent ablative laser sessions. Redness might be a sign that your skin has not fully recovered yet. It is best for you to contact your doctor/clinic for advice regarding the timing of the 2nd laser session.

Is PRP injection available for acne scarring in Singapore?

PRP at the present moment is not available in Singapore. It does help with acne scarring though, and you might have to go to neighbouring countries to do the treatment (including Malaysia). Having said that, you can consider Rejuran/skin boosters/microneedling that can help in a similar fashion. Your 2nd question on which is better — it depends on the severity and type of scars. But usually Fractional laser is the backbone of laser therapy. So consult your doctor early to discuss the available options.
