How effective is laser treatment for milia around the eyes?
I have milia seeds around my eye area due to overproduction of oil. I would like to seek out laser treatment. How effective are laser treatments for getting rid of milia?
Bumps on the face, especially around the eyes, can be one of many things - syringomas, sebaceous hyperplasia, true milia, seborrheic keratosis, and so on.
Certain lesions are easily removed and, when done properly, should not recur too soon. These include milia and seborrheic keratosis. Syringomas and Seb. hyperplasia, on the other hand, do tend to recur rather quickly, so balancing the expectations of result longevity vs the downtime from the laser might be a good idea.
Removal of the lesions is just the first step; proper skin care and sun avoidance is the next step in maintaining the results and preventing recurrence from occurring too soon. This can involve the use of retins/adapalene, acidic toners, regular clinical grade chemical peels, the use of light, non-comedogenic products, and definitely proper sunscreen.
Do get a proper physical examination of the lesions you are concerned about so that you can make a proper, informed decision on the removal of them.
