The turn around time is dependent on the nature of the tests required. If the tissue specimens are taken solely for the purpose of detecting Helicobacter pylori infection, the result should be ready within 24 hrs.

For histological analysis using a microscope, a turn around time of 2 to 3 days is generally required. More time may be needed if special immunohistochemical staining is necessary to arrive at the diagnosis.
