How long does it take to recover after a uterus biopsy?

Doctor's Answers 1

I assume that by “endometrial biopsy” you refer to a minor procedure you did in the clinic, where your gynaecologist has taken a small amount of tissue from your womb lining for tests?

If so, the discomfort and blood-stained discharge usually clears within a few days. And you should be well within a week. If you are still experiencing pain or excessive discharge after a week, you must contact your doctor as soon as possible.

Your endometrial lining should fully recover once your next menses comes.

Hi Hui Yi, The monthly period pattern is maintain by network of regulating hormones between the brain, the ovaries and the uterus. Disturbance to the hormonal axes may tweak the timing of the periods, the pattern of bleeding and the flow of the content. If it occurs once in a while, it is considered a harmless disrupted state, and will probably resolved by itself. If it happens repeatedly, then a visit to the gyne will be appropriate.
