How long should I wait to do double eyelid surgery after ICL surgery?

Doctor's Answer

Thanks for your question.

I agree with Dr. Por. You should inform both your plastic surgeon of your ICL operation and It would also be advisable to let your ophthalmologist know that you will be doing double eyelid surgery.

The recommendations vary between a wait of 2 weeks to 1 month. We want you to heal completely from the ICL surgery before you undergo the eyelid operation.

Both ICL surgery and double eyelid surgery can lead to dry eyes, and you would need normal tear production to recover from your ICL surgery.

Moreover, double eyelid surgery can also cause swelling over the eyelids which may interfere with eye closure further aggravating dry eyes.

Some surgeons use eye shields during double eyelid surgery and this may not be ideal if you have not recovered from your ICL operation.

Hope this answers your question.
