How much do dentists in Singapore earn when they first join the private sector?

Doctor's Answers 1

thank you for your question!(:

First of all, if you are planning to study locally in NUS, there is a 4 year bond that you have to serve after graduation, whereby you would work in the public institutions. The starting pay is $4.4k for guys, and it pretty much remains stagnant throughout the 4 years.

As for private sector, the market is getting saturated as of now, with the influx of foreign dentists and locals who graduated overseas. Do not expect an average of $10k when you have graduated. I would say that it is already on the higher range. Most clinics also work on a 50/50 commission only without base pay, thus what you earn can be very variable.

At the end of the day it really depends on how you work out your remuneration scheme with the employers.

If you are in for the money, then I would honestly recommend considering joining the finance sector instead…

Hope that answers your question!(:
