How to fix under eye and tear trough hollowing?

Doctor's Answer

Hi Joo!

A tear trough deformity can cast a shadow on the lower lid, giving the appearance of a dark eye circles and making a person look tired. If there is hollowing of the under-eyes, it is likely that you lack volume in the cheeks as well.

I would recommend tear trough and cheek fillers for a good overall result. A soft filler would be place in the tear trough area, and a harder filler would be placed in the cheeks. Good technique is required to prevent complications such as lumpiness and Tyndall effect (bluish discoloration due to too large or too superficial filler placement).

If your condition is very severe, you may then require a lower blepharoplasty.

Do consult a doctor to find out more!

Hope this helps.

Dr Harvey Ho
