Sorry to hear that your right buttock is still sore after 5 weeks. Contusions sometimes may take 1-2 months to settle down. If the symptoms are not improving at all after so long, You should get it checked.

You may have the railing abit harder than expected, and there may be a hairline fracture in the bone. This can be picked up on X-rays or MRIs. If so, then the recovery time may take abit longer. You may want to consider some anti-inflammatory medication to help bring down the bruising and soreness as well.

Do also consider cutting down your physical activity and you will recover.

Kind regards

I’m sorry to hear about your experience.

A bruise (or contusion) is caused by bleeding under the skin which may stimulate surrounding nerve endings and be perceived as pain.

For the bruise, you may use heat application, massage, or topical cream (such as hirudoid) that promotes absorption of the bleeding.

If the pain is severe and dehabilitating, you may need to visit a medical practitioner for oral painkiller and anti-inflammatory.

If you weee to visit a TCM clinic, typical methods such as acupuncture, cupping, tuina massage and herbal medication can be used to enhance circulation, promote absorption of the bleeding and to alleviate your pain and discomfort.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Warmest regards,

Physician Lee

What is the best treatment for a sebaceous cyst?

Generally speaking if the sebaceous cyst has complications such as infection, pain that is affecting your quality of life etc, I would advice a simple excision biopsy which is a quick procedure performed under local anesthesia. Do note that excision biopsy of a sebaceous cyst does have a small risk of recurrence. You may wish to consult a doctor who performs minor surgical procedures such as excision biopsies or a general surgeon. Hope this helps!

What should I do after a cystic acne flattens out? How do I know if it is completely gone?

Thank you for your question. A skin cyst or nodule is classified based on the content of the lesion. If you don’t have acne on your face or back, it is less likely the 2 cysts are cystic acne. From what you have described earlier, the remaining cyst content is soft, and doesn’t resolve after 2 months. My top suspicion would be an epidermal cyst. Epidermal cysts are benign and often found on the trunk, head and neck. They contain smelly sebaceous and keratin materials, and can cause acute inflammation when they are irritated. Regardless of the cyst content, 2 things you can do now.
