What are the main considerations in choosing a treatment to get rid of eye bags, dark eye circles and tear trough?

Doctor's Answers 1

In general, the main considerations are:

1. Patient suitability for the treatment. For example, patient on blood thinners should avoid injectables.

2. Proven therapies for the specific condition. It is important to balance effectiveness vs safety.

3. Skills & Experience of the practitioner.

4. Tolerability for downtime e.g. post-treatment redness, bruising and pigmentation.

5. Cost considerations.

It is important to note:

A. Early eyebags may be improved by energy-based skin tightening devices and filler injections.

B. Tear trough by filler injections.

C. There are several causes of dark eye rings. A proper assessment by your preferred Aesthetic doctor is needed. He will determine if the underlying cause may be corrected by lightening creams and/or laser treatment.

Hope this helps!

What is the best treatment for tear trough hollowness?

Tear trough deformities often create the appearance of dark eye circles, which can make an individual look tired, listless and give the face a "sunken" appearance. The true tear trough deformity is a natural consequence of the anatomic attachments of the periorbital tissues. Often, the cause of dark eye circles can be multi-factorial. Changes in skin thickness, laxity, and skin hyperpigmentation also play a role. Thin skin or prominent veins under the eye may also accentuate the periorbital darkening.
