The burning sensation you experienced is commonly known as dyspepsia. Unless there is a preexisting condition or the food you took was really very spicy, it is unusual to experience long duration of discomfort after a meal.

At times, gastric reflux may occur after meals and the burning sensation may be more intense if the meal is spicy. Some people may also disagree with the ingredients in the food they take which can give rise to the complaints you mentioned.
